Philadelphia Flyers GM Paul Holmgren Confident of Success post Lockout -NHL Update
There is not anything surprising when one hears that the Philadelphia Flyers are without a doubt, one of the toughest teams to beat in the National Hockey League (NHL), and after the lockout does come to an end, whenever that will be, Flyers’ general manager,
Paul Holmgren, is quite confident of them coming out with a bang.
Success is something the Flyers have seen a lot of and when the puck does drop, if there is not a complete lockout of the 2012-2013 NHL regular season, GM Holmgren is looking forward to dominate the standings with one of the strongest line-ups in North America.
Talking to NBCSports, Holmgren expressed sheer confidence, but also put a logical reason towards backing what he actually means when he says that Philadelphia is going to dominate on all levels.
Seeing how teams in the American Hockey League (AHL) have greatly benefitted from the superior inductions due to a limitless lockout, Holmgren termed that to just be a sign of what fans could expect at any moment.
“This is a good league right here,” Holmgren says of the AHL. “Every team has players that played in the NHL last year and the level of play is just ratcheted up. I think every game I’ve seen have been really good games. Very competitive, a lot of skating,
fast games. I think the players that are playing, not only in the American league but all over, they get a leg up on the guys that aren’t when the league does come back.”
Holmgren is also looking forward to getting much needed contributions from the younger generation of players that will be most likely make the move next season as the GM analyses their capabilities and how they could benefit at the major league level.
“They’re good young players and they’re good pros. This is Marc-Andre’s fourth year now so he should know his way around and it’s Erik’s third year in the league. They’re good pros. They work hard and they look after themselves and they’re very competitive
players,” Holmgren added about a couple of youngsters.
Philadelphia stood at number five in the Eastern Conference this past hockey year, making it even more exciting to see what might go on next time around.
