Philadelphia Flyers aim to eliminate Pittsburgh Penguins -NHL Playoffs Game 5 Preview
Pittsburgh made a huge rebound in the previous matchup against Philadelphia but no matter how hard headed the Penguins might become, Flyers are determined to oust them from the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Playoffs Eastern Conference Quarterfinal
series come game 5 on Friday, April 20, 2012, at the CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
More fighting and less playing has been the prime between both teams in the series so far, but Penguins showed in game 4 that scoring 10 goals was not a hard thing to do. Pittsburgh, along with their star captain, Sidney Crosby, are also hoping that having
the series back at home will allow them to remain in the series.
"I think it's all kind of crossed our mind and probably a lot of other people's too," Crosby said. "You see that happen maybe once and you kind of think `Oh, that's a weird game' and then in four games it's surprising but we've got to find ways to adjust
and ways to win."
One thing Pittsburgh has not let through to their minds is the fact they won game 4 by a huge, 10-3, margin. Thinking about it as only one win keeps them determined and hungry for more and more wins.
"The way we looked at it, it didn't matter if it was 2-1 or 10-3," defenseman, Brooks Orpik, said. "It's still only one win. You don't get any extra points for beating them by seven goals. We've dug ourselves a big hole and we just have to chip away at it,
little by little here."
Philadelphia on the other hand, has not won a Stanley Cup championship for the past 37 years now and getting back on track is their main focus and having Penguins on the verge of elimination for the next two will definitely help them with their goal.
Flyers veteran goalie, Ilya Bryzgalov, has overcome his fears, unlike the last match in which the management had to pull him out. Goaltending is a key to winning any playoff series and unless that aspect is not solid, winning matchups will only get tougher.
Game 5 between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh is set to start on Friday, April 20, at 7:30 ET.
