Philadelphia Flyers drop crucial points losing 3-2 against the Carolina Hurricanes

One of the important games of Friday was the Carolina Hurricanes playing host to the Philadelphia Flyers at the RBC Centre. The league leaders, Vancouver Canucks lost their game and provided the chance to the Flyers to make gain on them.
However, things turned out to be totally different as the Hurricanes emerged as a very strong team on the night. They scored twice in the opening period and once in the final one. Though the Flyers scored in the second and final periods to level the scores
but the Hurricanes scored once again to win the game 3-2 in the end. Erik Cole, winger of the Hurricanes was named player of the night for scoring the winning goal.
The Hurricanes made a splendid start to the game which saw them attacking and coming across scoring chances as soon as the game begun. There were numerous chances for the home side with the strong offence that they had on the night.
The Hurricanes stunned the Eastern Conference leaders as they scored through Chad LaRose from a brilliant tip in shot in the 5th minute to get into the lead. The Hurricanes kept on piling the pressure on the Flyers and they just didn’t seem to
be the Flyers that we know.
The Hurricanes on the other hand displayed some excellent defence alongside the offence. The offence the Hurricanes has been in top form recently and they showed this by scoring in the 7th minute through rookie Jeff Skinner to double their lead.
Hurricanes controlled the pace of the game and slowed things down with the Flyers coming up with a few goal attempts during the 20 minutes of play. However, no further goals were scored with the Hurricanes coming up with some desperate attempts. The period
ended with Hurricanes leading 2-0 and they made 8 goal attempts during the period while Flyers made 6 goal attempts.
The second period provided the Flyers with a few chances early on out which one was converted into a goal in the 3rd minute. The goal was scored by Blair Betts from a well placed flick shot. The period turned out to be more open then the first
one as there were several goal attempts.
The teams were playing smoothly which was absolutely amazing to watch. Despite all the good things in the period, neither of the teams was able to score any further goals as the period ended with the Hurricanes leading 2-1 at the end of the period. During
the 20 minutes of play, the Hurricanes made 13 goal attempts while the Flyers made 11 goal attempts.
The final period was similar to the first period as things started off on a low for both teams. Both teams were reluctant to go on the attack which resulted in almost no goal attempts early on. However, things heated up in the middle part of the period and
two goals in succession were scored.
The first was scored in favour of the Flyers in the 15th minute by Braydon Coburn while the second was scored by Erik Cole in the 17th minute which proved to be the game winning goal. The period ended with both teams making a few more
shots as the period neared its end but the Hurricanes won the game 3-2 in the end.
