Philadelphia Flyers host Buffalo Sabres at Wells Fargo Arena – NHL playoffs, game 5
Philadelphia Flyers will host Buffalo Sabres in the fifth game of the quarter-final series at the Wells Fargo Arena on Friday.
The series has been a closely contested one so far with the teams locked at 2-2. The Sabres secured the first game of the series while the Flyers emerged as winners of the next two games.
However, the Sabres were able to take advantage of the second home game and won to level the series. Both of the wins for the Sabres have come with a tight score of one goal. Jason Pominville was the scorer of the lone goal in the last game.
There were a lot of discussions which said that the Sabres fans and experts do not know whether their current goalkeeper, Ryan Miller is the best choice at this critical stage of the season. He allowed 8 goals in game two and three of the series. The fans were not happy and experts of the game said that the back up goalie Jhonas Enroth would be better off as the first choice goalkeeper.
Miller silenced all of his critics with a brilliant performance in the game. He not only came up with 32 saves during the game but also completed a shutout performance.
“I'm happy to help the team get a win,” he said following Wednesday’s game. “I'm not going to pay too much attention to anybody who's talking about my game right now. I really don't care. It's the furthest thing from my mind. I want to contribute and help the guys. I don't need to listen to all of the BS that's out there from people who don't know how to play goalie. I really don't give a [expletive].”
Chris Pronger has been missed a lot by the Flyers defence and there is a very big chance that he will play in game 5 after recovering from the injury he sustained.
Pronger has reportedly joined the team and took part in quite a few practices and drills. He has been out since March 2011 when he broke his right hand.
He is a very important part of the Flyers team and led the playoffs for being the player to have the highest ice-time. He was also the leading player to spend most time on ice for his team in the regular season.
“Can Chris Pronger play in a game in a limited role and be a factor in the game? Yes,” head coach of Flyers Peter Laviolette Jr. said. “You asked a hypothetical question and I gave you a hypothetical answer.”
The Flyers will be looking to lead the series with a home advantage and the recent good form which has seen them scoring goals every now and then.
