Philadelphia Flyers host the Phoenix Coyotes - NHL Previews
The second game of Tuesday will be hosted by the Eastern Conference leaders, Philadelphia Flyers as they square off against the Phoenix Coyotes at the Wells Fargo Arena. This is the only game between the two inter-conference teams.
A win in regulation time would put the Flyers at the top of the league. They have very good chance of doing as they play home to the Coyotes due to the fact that they haven’t won in Phoenix since the 2003 season. However, in their last meeting that took
place on the 21st November 2009 saw the Coyotes beat the Flyers 3-1 on their home. While Flyers last victory against the Coyotes came in late November in 2007 when Mike Richards scored the winning goal in overtime.
The Coyotes are in superb form as they have won seven straight games and will be looking to extent this to make it their season best run so far. This is the second of the five road trip game for the Coyotes and definitely one of the toughest.
The Coyotes top the Pacific Division and are in the third spot in the Western Conference. With the performances they have come up in their last seven games, they have outscored their opponents 19-11 comprehensively. Things are looking good for them but they
need to combine together as their record at the Wells Fargo isn’t that good. However, they have won seven of their last eight games while playing away.
Ilya Bryzgalov, goal keeper of the Coyotes has done a wonderful job while keeping the goal as he won his seventh straight game against the Nashville Predators 3-2 this past Saturday. His 190 saves out of the 201 shots fired towards his goal has earned him
his 19th consecutive start as the Coyotes play the Flyers. Captain of the Coyotes, Shane Doan is in good form ahead of the game though he missed the team’s first penalty shot during the last game.
The Coyotes have played 60 games during season so far out of which they have won 32 games in regulation time, scored at least a point in nine games and scored 73 points. While the Flyers have played 59 games so far out of which they have won 39 games in
regulation time, scored a point in five games and scored a total of 83 points.
The Flyers were up against the New York Rangers this past Sunday and came up with a decent performance that saw them winning the game 4-2 in the end. This was the Flyers sixth win out of the last eight games. They are topping the Eastern Conference and win
here will put them top of the league.
The game will be very exciting and entertaining as both teams look to hold their positions at a very tight stage in the season. The Flyers lead the Tampa Bay Lightning by eight points in the Eastern Conference and would surely want to extend the lead.
