Philadelphia Flyers lose ground on the Canucks after a 4-0 loss to Tampa Bay Lightning
Another one of the important games of Tuesday was the Tampa Bay Lighting playing host to the Philadelphia Flyers as they playing catch up with the Canucks. The match was very important for the Flyers due to the fact that Canucks won the match and they had
to win if they needed to be alongside the Canucks.
However, things turned out to very different as Tampa Bay Lightning dominated the game and won the match 4-0 in the end. The goal keeper of the Tampa Bay Lightning, Dwayne Roloson did an amazing job as he maintained a clean sheet after stopping all shots
fired on his goal for which he was named the star selection of the match.
Tampa Bay Lightning absolutely exploded at the start of the match and scored in the very first minute and stunned the Flyers defence which had been strong over the past few games. The match was a result of a very well worked move which saw Teddy Purcell
scoring from a decent flick shot.
Flyers didn’t recover from the stunning goal when Tampa Bay Lightning took advantage of a defence lapse in the very next minute to double their lead. The goal was scored by Teddy Purcell once again this time from a quick fired shot that caught the goal keeper
by surprise.
Philadelphia Flyers managed make a few goal attempts and construct decent attacks but unfortunately it was the Tampa Bay Lighting who scored once again through Steve Downie in the 15th minute to complete a dominating performance in the period.
Though Flyers made a several goal attempts as the period neared its end but they failed to score any goals.
Tampa Bay Lightning led 3-0 going into the break and made 6 goal attempts during the period while Philadelphia Flyers made 13 goal attempts in the period.
The second period saw the Flyers and the Tampa Bay both start off on a high note. During the course of the period there were several goal attempts made by both teams from everywhere on the pitch. Though no goals were scored during the opening part of the
period but this certainly gave them a lot of confidence.
The confidence could be seen in their game with both teams looking to score. It looked as if the Flyers would score but the Tampa Bay Lightning was up to the mark as he made save after save. As the end of the period approached, the home side got stronger
making numerous shots on goal but they couldn’t and the period ended goalless. During the period Flyers made 14 goal attempts and the Tampa Bay made 11 goal attempts.
Tampa Bay Lightning started off the final period on a high firing shot and was very strong on the offence. Though they couldn’t score during the opening part of the period but they finally scored in the 9th minute with the goal scored by Steven
Stamkos from a powerful strike.
Philadelphia Flyers again started to attack and piled up attacks after attacks but couldn’t score which had been the case for most of the match for them. Despite some of the best players included in their roster they ended the night being the losing team
as Tampa Bay won the match 4-0 in the end.
During the course of the final period, Flyers made 11 goal attempts while the Tampa Bay Lightning made 5 goal attempts.
