Philadelphia Flyers planning on solving Blue Line issues -NHL Update
Philadelphia knows that they need someone to back up veteran goalie Ilya Bryzgalov on the blue line in order to avoid another repeat of the 2011-2012 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season.
But with Shea Weber, Ryan Suter and a number of top class defensemen out of the picture now, Philadelphia can only do so much as to make the needed changes this time around.
Without a doubt, general manager Paul Holmgren, has a lot of ideas on how to pump up the blue line a bit, but will it be enough in the end is only something time will tell. They also lost Jaromir Jagr, but supposedly, Philadelphia can care less about that
for now.
At the moment, there are a few options believed to being looked at by Philadelphia Flyers and one of them are signing a free agent, but choosing from a limited market just might not fulfil their needs and will end up costing them as well.
Carlo Colaiacovo, Jaroslav Spacek, Michal Rozsival and Chris Campoli are the few names that remain up for grabs in the free agency and for Philadelphia; Rozsival is being tipped off as the best choice.
The best case scenario for Philadelphia at this moment would be getting their hands on some restricted free agents like Montreal Canadiens’ P.K Subban or New York Rangers’ Michael Del Zotto. Both will most likely never think of anything except their own
teams but Philadelphia can at least dream.
Next on the list is trading. Philadelphia will have to find a team that is looking for some offensive power in exchange for a defender that can also meet their needs in return. Some names being put out on the table are Dan Boyle of San Jose Sharks along
with Brent Burns.
Sharks are known to be looking for offence but have not hinted at what Philadelphia player they might be interested in just yet.
The last and final option that will come into play if all else fails is to be content with what Flyers have and make the best of it. Flyers have some potential and if they manage to unleash it, all problems may be solved automatically.
