Philadelphia Flyers play host to the Edmonton Oilers in their lone meeting of the season
Another one of Tuesday’s games will be hosted by the Philadelphia Flyers at the Wells Fargo Arena as they will be up against the Edmonton Oilers.
This is the lone meeting between the two teams during the course of the season.
The last time these two met was during the course of the last season in February in 2010.
The game was hard fought by both teams which saw the Oilers managing to win it 1-0 in the end.
The Flyers are going through some very tough time in the season which has seen them losing their last four straight games.
Not only this, but they lost the game this Sunday against the New York Rangers from an embarrassing score on 7-0.
Their lead in the Eastern Conference and the Atlantic Division has been cut down and if they don’t step up the pace they might well lose it.
The Flyers are suffering from some health issues which have seen almost of their locker come across flu. Coupled with this was the hard work they put they put in practice in three days.
After the practice they had three games in four days which resulted in losses for the Flyers.
Coach Peter Laviolette is still hopeful that his team would not only top the Division but also the Conference.
He said that every team has rough times during the course of the season especially when the season is very long and has games throughout the week.
Therefore, after their thrashing from the hand of the Rangers the Coach decided to call a day off and five the team some rest.
"You need to look no further than me," he said this Monday. "I'm the guy that gives them the time off and the time on."
The Flyers have played 65 games during the course of the season out of which they have won 40 games in regulation time, six games in overtime scoring a total of 86 points.
Oilers have played 66 games in the season so far out of which they have won 23 games in regulation time, eight games in overtime and scored a total of 54 points.
The Oilers came up with dominating performance against the Colorado Avalanche in their last game which saw them winning 5-1 in the end. The win gave them their third consecutive wins and moved them into the 29th spot in the league.
"Everyone talks about getting that (first) pick again," centre Sam Gagner said, "but we’ve had enough of that. We got that last year when we got (first pick Taylor Hall). We want to show we're capable ... and maybe on paper these games might not seem that
important, but they are for us in here to establish an identity and continue to move forward as a group.
