Philadelphia Flyers plays host to the Buffalo Sabresin the thrid of their total four meetings this season
Philadelphia Flyers will be hosting the second game of Saturday at the Wells Fargo Arena as they face the Buffalo Sabres.
This will be the third out of the four scheduled meetings due to take place between the two teams during the course of the regular season.
Flyers have emerged as stronger of the two teams during the series as they have won both the games, 6-3 and 5-2, comfortably.
Flyers have seen their players perform very well against the Sabres.
Jeff Carter, Scott Hartnell and Danny Briere are among the Flyers players who consistently bagged decent performance scoring goals and coming up with important assists.
Flyers were in a very strong position in the Eastern Conference but their recent few performances has seen them dropping quite a lot of points.
On the other hand, Bruins have come up with some brilliant results. Resultantly, the lead at top of the Conference has been cut down to just three points.
The problem with Flyers is not against the top tier teams but they have been struggling against the mid table teams.
Sabres are another one of those teams which makes the game all the more exciting.
The Flyers are going through some tough times and this is the first time since December that they are coming into the game losing two games in row. Another shocking fact is that they have just managed to come up with two wins out of their last six games.
However, the Flyers' coach, Peter Laviolette, isn’t considering this something big as he thinks that his team has put in the hard work that was needed and now this little ups and down would help them prepare well for the play-offs.
"What it does is it forces you to examine everything," Laviolette said after the most recent 3-2 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs. "You do examine conditioning, you examine your game, your system and your video and I think that's a positive thing."
Both the teams have played 63 games during the course of the season. Out of as many games, the Flyers have won 40 games in regulation time, six games in overtime to score 86 points and lead the Eastern Conference.
Sabres have won 30 games in regulation time, eight games in overtime to score a total of 68 points.
The Sabres are one of those sides in the league who can be said to be careless. The Sabres had a very good chance of closing the gap on the Hurricanes as they faced them and established two goals lead to their advantage.
However, they weren’t able to maintain it as they allowed two goals and in the end lost the game in overtime.
"We had them in a position to seal them off," goaltender Ryan Miller said. "Everything's going to matter in the end. I guess it's not so bad, but it's just like the Detroit game: We let it go."
