Philadelphia Flyers plays host to the Toronto Maple Leafs
The Philadelphia Flyers will be hosting another one of the important games of Thursday at the Wells Fargo Arena as they square off against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
This will be the third out of the four scheduled meetings due to take placed between the two teams during the course of the season.
The Flyers have been in top form and won the two meetings 5-2 and 4-1 comprehensively.
The Maple Leafs has some of their key players leaving the roster due to the trades which include the likes of Tomas Keberle and Kris Versteeg.
However, they have been to come up with some consistent and decent performances that have still kept them in the play-off running in the Eastern Conference.
In their last game, the Maple Leafs recorded a win which put them just four points behind the Carolina Hurricanes who are in the final play-off spot.
"Right now we're worried about our own business,'' Toronto defenseman Dion Phaneuf said. "We're not looking at the (out-of-town) scoreboard, praying and hoping for help.''
The Maple Leafs came up with a decent performance against the Pittsburgh Penguins this Wednesday.
They were trailing by two goals at the end of the second period but their dominating performance during the period saw them winning 3-2 in overtime in the end.
The Maple Leafs haven’t have had the best of records as they have won just two games in regulation time but scored a point in 24 games with three losses in the last 29 games.
"There's no room for a bad week and that puts a lot of pressure on our team," Leafs coach Ron Wilson said. "We'll find out what we're made of."
The Maple Leafs have played 64 games during the course of the season so far out of which they have won 28 games regulation time and nine games in overtime to score a total of 65 points.
Flyers have played 62 games during the season out of which they have won 40 games in regulation time and six games in overtime and scored 86 points and top the Eastern Conference.
Flyers is one of the teams in the league that has come up with more than the expected performances during the course of the season.
They have been in hot pursuit of the league lead and with two games in hand and three points difference they have a big chances of taking the lead from the Canucks.
However, they enter the games with a very inconsistent run which has seen them losing a game and winning a game.
Their last game against the Senators saw them losing 4-1 in the end which was embarrassing as the Senators is in the final spot in the Eastern Conference.
"In the first period we dominated the game and we skated and were playing together," Flyers forward Claude Giroux said. "There was no issue for the first period, then we just stopped playing and it cost us two points."
