Philadelphia Flyers re-sign Marc-Andre Bourdon and ink Scott Laughton in an Entry-Level contract
Philadelphia Flyers who had just lost their defenseman Andrej Meszaros because he torn his Achilles tendon, have now found his replacement as they re-signed Canadian defenseman, Marc-Andre Bourdon in a two-year deal.
They have also inked another player, Scott Laughton in an entry-level deal, a forward that was picked 20th overall in the first round of the 2012 NHL draft. Final terms of both deals were not disclosed by Philadelphia Flyers but CSNPhilly.com
believes that Bourdon deal is signed for two years and it is worth $1.225 million, with an average of $612,500 every year.
22-year-old Bourdon, who was selected 67th overall in the third round of the 2008 NHL draft by Philadelphia Flyers and he was signed by them in 2009 in a three-year deal which was worth $2.137 million.
In 2009-2010 season, The Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec born, defenseman played for Adirondack Phantoms, Flyers’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliates and featured in 61 games for them, scoring two goals and 17 assists for a total of 19 points.
The 6-foot-0, 206 pounder, spent 2010-2011 season with both Phantoms and Greenville Road Warriors of East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) and finally made his NHL debut for Flyers in 2011-2012 season, scoring four goals, three assists in 45 games.
Their other signing, 18-year-old Scott Laughton has spent last two seasons in Ontario Hockey League (OHL), playing there for Oshawa Generals.
Born in Oakville, Ontario, Laughton started his career with Toronto Marlboros Minor Midget AAA in Green Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) and a great first season as he scored 55 goals, 50 assists and 95 total points in 76 games. Next season he moved to St. Michael's
Buzzers in Central Canadian Hockey League (CCHL), before moving to Oshawa Generals in 2010-2011 season.
The 6-foot-0, 175 pounder has played 127 games over a period of two years and scored 33 goals, 43 assists for a total of 76 points.
Paul Holmgren, Philadelphia Flyers’ general manager had praised Laughton after NHL draft as he had said,
"We really like Scott. I've seen him play a couple of times and he kind of reminds me a little bit of Mike Richards, a little bit of Adam Henrique; he's a good, solid, hard-nosed two-way player."
