Philadelphia Flyers to host second game of semi-final series against Boston Bruins – NHL Play-offs
The second game of the National Hockey League Play-offs semi-final series between the Philadelphia Flyers and the Boston Bruins will be played at the Wells Fargo Arena this Monday.
The Bruins are in the lead as they made a terrific start to the series with a commanding 7-3 victory.
Boston were on top of the game as they saw two goals scored by Brad Marchand and David Krejci to boost up the team’s confidence as they look to take revenge from the Flyers. Last year this was the same occasion as the Flyers were down 3-1 but they displayed
some excellent game play and won the series 4-3 in the end.
Brain Boucher’s confidence was shattered after conceding five early goals which saw him being replaced by Sergei Bobrovsky. He did not prove to be much help as he too witnessed the puck going into the back of his net on two occasions.
The Flyers are looking at ways to boost up the team’s morale as they are expected to win. As part of this, the owner of the Flyers who founded the team in 1967, came down to meet each of the players and wish them good luck.
Ed Snider is in the 44th year of leading the club and is hoping that there is still a lot left for him to cheer about.
"It's pretty cool," centre Danny Briere said. "That's why he is considered one of the best owners in any team sport. He is very passionate. He loves his team, loves his players. It's pretty cool to see him."
Claude Giroux also came out and said after meeting the owner, "Anytime you see someone important like that, that cares so much, it obviously helps your motivation," he said. "You want to play for a guy like that."
The Bruins were absolutely on top as they dominated the game in the offence and defence. They were superb in constructing exciting plays and did not give the opposition any space to settle and construct effective attacks.
The Bruins were up against the daunting task of keep the Flyers quiet. Boston has been one of the hottest teams when it comes to the department of offence.
"We always thought before the series started that we have some depth," said coach Claude Julien. "Our organization did a really nice job of getting some before the trade deadline, getting (Tomas) Kaberle and (Chris) Kelly and (Rich) Peverley.”
The addition of the above mentioned players has certainly boosted the Bruins confidence but it has to be mentioned that they have worked really hard to come together as one team. They showed this in their destructive performance in the first game of the
series, where they bagged seven brilliant goals.
