Philadelphia Flyers want Columbus Blue Jackets' Rick Nash but are reluctant to ask -NHL Update
While rumours of trading players around the National Hockey League (NHL) are normal at this time of year when the trade deadline gets closer with each passing day, but the Philadelphia Flyers and Rick Nash case has been a little unusual.
The mystery behind what Philadelphia actually wants has been the concern for many analysts around the league since the Flyers are not advertising what they want and how they want it, but in recent reports, it is speculated that the team is hesitant due to
the huge price tag around Rick Nash.
Columbus Blue Jackets’ captain, Rick Nash, is without a doubt one of the best players in the league and the face of his franchise but looking at the team’s performance these past few seasons, it is not hard to tell why they might be looking to switch a few
things around.
Blue Jackets are currently sitting at the lowest point not only in the Western Conference but throughout the league as well with 41 points, while each and every other franchise has crossed 50, along with a disappointing 17-35-7 record.
Despite the rumours, Columbus Blue Jackets’ general manager, Scott Howson, has declined on confirming any news about a possible trade involving their star player and regarded it rather as waiting for the right opportunities.
“We’re waiting for the right deals,” Howson told Aaron Portzline of The Columbus Dispatch Monday, February 20, 2012. “We’re getting closer. But we’re not there yet.”
Analysing Howson’s statement about how their getting closer, it seems like we could be expecting the team to announce another blockbuster deal with the Philadelphia Flyers any day now like they did all of a sudden in acquiring top-notch forward,  Jeff Carter.
Rick Nash, a former first overall draft pick during round-one of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft has been contributing like a true leader so far this season.
He currently boasts a 59 games played record with 40 points (19 goals, 21 assists) in his ninth straight season with Columbus Blue Jackets, out of which, he has taken the team only once to the playoffs as they were eliminated in the first round.
