Philadelphia Phillies’ Charlie Manuel intends to be proactive next season - MLB Update
After watching his team crumbling in a miserable fashion in the on-going season, Philadelphia Phillies’ manager Charlie Manuel looks to be more involved in the day-to-day activities next year.
He accepts the bulk of the blame for the poor performances saying that he could not produce the best results from the talent of his players.
Despite hosting quality players on the roster, such an unimpressive win-loss record is disheartening for Manuel.
Manuel is deeply hurt ever since the Washington Nationals won Division Championship because the same crown has been with the Phillies in the last five years.
Watching the Nationals celebrating and expressing jubilation came at the aggravation of the woes of Manuel who was already disturbed by the overall performance of his team.
The large numbers of losses that the Phillies suffered in the season have made Manuel more conscious with regard to preparations for the upcoming year.
He wants to focus on each and every aspect of the players in order to make sure they give their best in the field. He is looking to work on the mental side of the players.
He is of the view that Phillies boast extremely talented individuals but they are not strong when it comes to showing mental strength.
Manuel hints at changes that will be introduced for the upcoming season in the club. The most important one of them will be a shift in his attitude toward managing players.
“You’re gonna see a lot of changes,” Manuel said. “You’re gonna see me walking around into everything. I want us to play right.”
Manuel is sorrowful as he feels he could not prepare his team for the challenges properly.
“I look at this year and I kinda get irritated. You’ll never hear me cry or anything about talent,” Manuel said. “As far as the mental things and the mental mistakes we make in the game, I take that on myself.”
The fact Manuel has identified the areas his team struggled in is a healthy sign for the Phillies.
There is a greater possibility that if Manuel continues detecting and fixing flaws, he can end up making the Phillies a formidable unit for the next year.
