Philadelphia Phillies’ Double-A affiliate will be renamed on November 17 - MLB Update
Currently named as Reading Phillies, the Double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies will be assigned a new name in the upcoming weeks. This Minor League offshoot is a part of the Phillies for the last many decades. It has been known for producing talented
players for the team.
The announcement that certain modifications will be made has driven the fans curious and excited. They are looking to know about the new identity of the outfit at the earliest.
As per the reports coming from the Reading Phillies, the decision has been taken to present the Minor outfit in a better way to the audience. In order to make sure the name and the logo keep up with the contemporary standards, the move may have been considered
indispensable.
The Phillies as a Major League club were far from what they are known for in the 2012 regular season. They did not put up the kind of performances that were expected by the fans.
Losing the Division title that they have been claiming for the last five years, they ended up languishing at the bottom half of the National League East table for the most part of the season.
Disappointed by the unimpressive shows of the team, the officials intend to introduce necessary measures in the offseason so that they improve next year.
They are trying to acquire new players and fill the vacant spots on the roster.
Reading's general manager, Scott Hunsicker while stating that they will reveal the new name soon has expressed the honour they feel of being a part of the Phillies. He has discussed the rich legacy that the Double-A associate maintains with the Phillies.
"Since 1967, the Reading Phillies have been proud affiliates of the Philadelphia Phillies," Hunsicker said. "Our relationship is the longest affiliation in the minor leagues and there has never been a better time to be a Phillies affiliate.. Considering
the heritage and fun nature of Baseballtown, our entire front office is extremely anxious to unveil and share our new name with everyone on November 17th."
Regardless of the redesigning process of the Minor League outfit, the Phillies will be hoping that it produces quality players and helps them perform well at the Major League level.
