Philadelphia Phillies’ shortstop Jimmy Rollins continues with his reputation of participating in social causes as he plans to conduct an event on November 12 where he will invite donors. The money collected from the ceremony will be given to "Prevent Child
Abuse Pennsylvania".
Rollins is renowned for helping the destitute and the needy masses in the society. Throughout his career, he has been involved in the endeavours related to the betterment of the under-privileged class.
Offseason is the best occasion when the players can join such campaigns.
As they play all through the season, they do not have much time to spend on such activities. Despite the fact they may want to accumulate funds for the social causes regularly, they cannot do so due to their baseball commitments.
As soon as 2012 season came to an end, Rollins resumed the activities he is known for.
He draws spiritual pleasure by aiding those less fortunate in society and making efforts to alleviate their pains.
Child abuse is a deplorable act but unfortunately most of the cases stay unreported, which makes the issue worth paying attention to.
There are scores of reports stating that kids could not find the courage to reveal their stories after they were sexually abused. They went through the agony by themselves but they did not tell anyone. Resultantly, the amount of anxiety and embarrassment
grew for them.
Even some of the baseball players have recounted how they endured the experience of being abused in childhood.
The New York Mets’ starting pitcher R.A. Dickey, who is a strong contender for winning the Cy Young Award this year, unveiled in his book that he suffered such an unfortunate incident while he was a small kid.
He stated that it is very hard for a child to escape the morally degraded attempts from the bullies. Dickey narrated that he did not reveal his story to anyone until he grew up.
Rollins is certainly doing a great job by standing up for those kids that are vulnerable. His contributions can be decisive for the avoidance of their exploitation in the future.
Rollins will be looking to keep his preparations for the upcoming season afloat alongside his engagements in social causes.
