Philadelphia Phillies’ Roy Halladay prepares with Kyle Kendrick to get rhythm back - MLB Update
Starting pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies, Roy Halladay, is preparing rigorously for the upcoming season.
As per the evaluation of general manager of the club, Ruben Amaro Jr., Halladay is looking good at the moment and expected to improve next year.
Currently, Halladay along with his team-mate, Kyle Kendrick is trying to get his rhythm back, and make sure he rebounds from the miserable expedition of the last season.
Halladay was below par in the 2012 season. He could not meet the expectations, struggling to throw quality innings at the mound and causing defeats for the team.
At the beginning, he had some outstanding outings but following the game against the Atlanta Braves when he was struck for plenty by the batters, he started experiencing a downfall.
He could not come out of the feelings of being battered so badly by the Braves’ offence.
Another reason why he could not return to his normal form was a decline in self-belief of Halladay. With his confidence shattered, he struggled even against the below average oppositions.
To make matters worse, he sustained an injury during the season, which kept him out for a number of weeks.
On return, Halladay tried to learn lessons from mistakes and improve to some extent. After a few relatively better starts, he began putting up subpar shows on the mound again.
Amaro has stated that Halladay will be throwing the pitches soon and speeding up the process of getting his form back.
"Doc's done very well. He's going to start throwing off the mound here very shortly. [Pitching coach Rich Dubee] has seen him throw a couple times, at least long toss. I guess he's working down there with Kyle Kendrick pretty extensively. He's doing well,
but we don't know what kind of Doc we're going to get until Doc's down firing in Spring Training. But he's feeling pretty good so far," Amaro said.
Halladay has a point to prove during the upcoming season. If he fails again, questions will be raised against his ageing body. In many ways, the 2013 season is extremely important for his future.
He will go all out to produce his best performances.
