Philadelphia Phillies’ Ryan Howard looks in great touch ahead of next season
The Philadelphia Phillies’ first baseman Ryan Howard, who is taking part in this year’s Major League Baseball Spring Training, is looking in great shape after playing a disappointing role in last two seasons.
His form looks good as he joined the Phillies’ rest of the roster in Arizona on training ground. Howard is considered one of the best players in the Phillies 40-man roster and most improving individual in recent past. Despite his relatively low performance from last two seasons, his franchise still believes that he certainly make a drastic comeback next season and will be winning games for the Phillies.
Howard, during the Spring Training spoke to the media and told them about his future game plan and how he is viewing his game in next few months for the next season. Howard described with slight details and said linking his past performance as learning opportunity, “It sucks. I’m not going to lie. It sucks. And I know how it looks to everybody, like having the season come down and you’re that guy two years in a row.”
He added, “The last two seasons I got out, so I figure I’m about due. I’d love to be in that situation again. Yeah, I would like to think so. I’m just continuing to learn and to grow as a hitter and a player. If I take care of my body and stay healthy, I feel like I can go out there and do some damage.”
Having seven years of playing experience at top level in the biggest baseball league in the world, Howard knows how his game can affect the results of his franchise. Last season, a little injury was also the reason as Howard could not perform well, but now he is taking full care of his fitness and giving extra time to his fitness training.
The Phillies’ team manager Charlie Manuel is also impressed with Howard’s late efforts to stay healthy for the entire season. In the meanwhile, the Phillies’ overall team efforts are continue in the Spring Training and whenever the 2012 Major League season starts, they will be all set to outdo every top team.
