Philadelphia Phillies crush Miami Marlins 7-2 – MLB Recap
Philadelphia Phillies crushed the Miami Marlins 7-2 in the first game of their four-match regular series encounter on Thursday, May 2 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
"He did a good job, They hit some balls hard, but he made pitches when he had to," manager Charlie Manuel said for his pitcher.
The Phillies wonderfully and showed great determination from start of the game. They started scoring early in the game and gave no chance to the Marlins during the entire game to bounce back.
"In the last two years, he's had a harder workout routine, He's stronger in the core, his sinker is better velocity-wise and he's improved his command,” Manuel added.
In-fact, the Phillies batting lineup showed their best game so far of this year’s regular season. They hit hard and played as one unit. Every individual played his role and when their team needed united offence, they provided with best of their plays.
“It feels good to be mentioned with guys like that," Pierre said after becoming the eighth player since 1920 to have 1,000 runs, 2,000 hits and 600 steals. "But I really don't feel like I should be mentioned with those guys. It's nice to have played all
this time and accomplished something."
Later this type of high spirited team unity was also appreciated by the Phillies skipper. He told the media that his team approached the Marlins home field with inner passion of winning the outing and they just showed their offensive prowess which will certainly
showed other league teams’ too that Phillies have a purpose this time around and they also know how to go about in the later stages of the season.
Along with batters, the Phillies pitching offense was invincible. They pitched in right area and proved too good for the Marlins dire batting lineup.
From their starter to closer, everybody contributed in their team’s great win. Starter Kyle Kendrick was exceptional on the mound. He showed his best stats of regular season in which he tosses seven solid innings and allowed only two runs and received seven
hits on 2.43 ERA. He struck out five and made proud his manager.
