Philadelphia Phillies crush Washington Nationals 5-4 – MLB news
Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Washington Nationals 5-4 in the first game of their three-match regular encounter on Monday, June 17 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
Although the Nationals did well in the later innings of the match, but overall they could not do much against the Phillies’ top pitching lineup and lost bitterly in the end.

John Lannan pitched first innings and allowed two runs on six hits. He also allowed two earned runs and struck out four Nationals’ batters on his 5.49 ERA.
“He was trying to be short. I fought off two pitches and finally hit one, Everybody was feeling good and emotions were high. Personally it was good for me, but nobody's happy right now. A loss is a loss,” Tracy said.
Relief pitcher Mike Adams pitched 0.2 innings and allowed one run on two hits. He also allowed one earned run and maintained his ERA at 4.13.
Closer Jonathan Papelbon pitched last inning and allowed one run on one hit. He allowed one earned run and struck out one Nationals’ hitter on his consistent 1.75 ERA.
Along with pitchers, the Phillies batters also performed well and played a key role in their team’s win. Centre fielder Ben Revere scored two runs on two hits on his five at bats. He hit hard and remained consistent on his slugging percentage of .310.
First baseman Ryan Howard scored one run on three hits. He ran for two RBIs and maintained his slugging percentage of .460.
On the other hand, the Nationals’ batters and pitchers did not perform well and lost the game in the end.
Dan Haren pitched six solid innings and allowed four runs on seven hits. He also allowed four earned runs on his blistering high 5.72 ERA.
