Philadelphia Phillies defeat Los Angeles Dodgers 9-8 – MLB Update

The Philadelphia Phillies showed they need just one or two innings to get the game into their hands, as they beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 9-8 in a close electrifying game at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on Wednesday, August 10 to earn their series sweep..
Phillies were trailing 6-0 until the top of the fourth inning, when Hunter Pence launched a cracking hit to the centre for two-run homer against the Dodgers’ starter Chad Billingsley. It created a confidence even in the Phillies’ pitchers while they came
to bat as Vance Worley drove in a single to centre to add one more run reducing the lead to 6-3.
In the fifth inning, reached at second on an error by third baseman Casey Blake, scoring Shane Victorino for the fourth run. Ibanez grounded out to first and Ryan Howard scored while Pence reached third base.
After the top of the fifth, the Phillies were still under on run deficit, but the Dodgers’ James Loney increased this difference scoring an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth. The Dodgers acquired a 7-5 lead when the game entered into the sixth inning.
In this inning, Chase Utley drove in a line drive RBI single against Blake Hawksworth to tie the game at 7-all and then Ryan Howard launched a stunning homer to take the game ahead of the Dodgers.
"Vance got off to kind of a rough start, but we were able to pick him up today," Howard said.
"We just believe the game isn't over until the 27th out is made," he said. "They got ahead early, but we knew there was a lot of game left."
Dodgers’ Juan Rivera, who also launched  homer in the first tinning, tried to get his team back into the game with his line drive RBI single, but he was  unlucky to have any support from the other batters.
Phillies’ Kyle Kendrick tossed a perfect inning at the crucial time to get his seventh win of the season. Vance Worley played well with the bat but failed with the ball, as he allowed six runs, including five in the first, over his four innings.
"I threw well in the bullpen, but none if it really transferred over to that first inning," Worley said. "I didn't locate very well and got tagged. But that's not the first time the guys have gotten me off the hook.”
Blake Hawksworth lost his third game of the season allowing three runs on less than an inning as these were the most significant runs for the Phillies which put them into a leading position taking them from behind.
