Philadelphia Phillies engaged in talks with Texas Rangers for Michael Young, sources report - MLB
According to the sources, the Texas Rangers are progressing fast in negotiations involving trade of their infielder Michael Young to Philadelphia Phillies.
It is not the first time that the Rangers have considered this possibility. Rumours are prevailing for the last couple of years regarding the unloading of Young by the Rangers from their roster.
The Phillies are looking ahead to reclaim their lost Division title crown from the National League East in the 2013 Major League season.
For this, they are taking various steps to ascertain that they dominate and do not allow any other team to clinch the top position on the table next year.
Adding reliable players on the roster is one of the ways they can ensure this.
They have done so to some extent up until now as they get rid of below par performers of the last season and replace them with those that have incredible credentials.
If the trade of Young to Philadelphia by the Texas Rangers materialises, it will be a huge addition on their roster. The kind of veteran that can lead by example and step up consistently will be attained by them.
