Some inside Phillies sources are telling in the media that Philadelphia Phillies’ first baseman Ryan Howard is progressing fast from his injury that he endured last season and will be coming soon onto the field.
However, speculations rose when 2012 Major League Baseball was going to start that the potential veteran Phillies ace player will be starting the season from Opening Day; however he started the season being on 15-day disabled list.
On the other hand, now his return seems obvious as the Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro has told the media about his players’ potential return with quite confidence.
Amaro said in detail, “He’s done well, Ryan has been fielding, throwing to all the bases, covering first, hitting -- he’s doing some running now. He’s doing a lot of things. He’s basically doing everything. He’s not doing everything full-speed yet or 100 percent, but a lot of it right now is about getting his strength back in his calf."
He added, “He’s done well. He’s progressing pretty good, He’s doing better, We’ll see. We’re trying to make sure that when the time is right for him to take ground balls and to put that kind of stress on his legs he’ll do it.”
Howard is good player and at the moment, his team needs him badly. Phillies have so far done quite well in the National League, but if Howard also joins them, the level of productivity will certainly increase and their postseason chances will also look possible.
In the meanwhile, regarding his career, his eight years of Major League experience has given him a stable position among first basemen. Baseball experts often rate him among the best role players in the National League. Over the past several years, he has been performing diligently and won many games for the Phillies.
