Philadelphia Phillies lose to Baltimore Orioles 4-5 – MLB Recap
The Philadelphia Phillies lost to Baltimore Orioles 4-5 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, June 10 at Oriole Park in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Designated hitter Matt Wieters played well for the Orioles as they managed to oust the Phillies with narrow margin. He remained confident throughout the game and proved wonderful for his team.
His three hits on four at bats and single RBI proved decisive for the Orioles as they not only won the game but they also won the series 2-1.
Later in the game several reporters gathered around him and started questioning on his brilliant performance as Wieters replied with confidence, "We'd rather win games in nine, but if you're going to go extras you want to win those, The key is our bullpen
has been able to keep teams where they're at -- especially when we get to extra innings -- and just give our offense the chance to get a timely hit."
Wieters added also explaining about his teammates efforts, "I wasn't sure it was going to go quite far enough, and it went just out of Pence's reach, With Jonesy's speed, you know he's going to score if you can get it off the wall."
Relief pitcher Troy Patton regained the confidence for his team which starter Jason Hammel lost with his poor six innings’ spell.
Patton finished his two innings’ spell without receiving a score and maintained his 3.77 ERA with complete persistence.
Hammel on the other hand, was hammered with four runs and six hits. He also gave four earned runs and almost lost the game for the Orioles.
Overall the game was played on high pace but still the Orioles remained determined to win and eventually they did win in style.
With this win, now the Orioles are standing at third position in the American League East with 34-26 win-loss record along with .567 winning percentage.
The Phillies on the other hand, are down at fifth position in the National League East with 29-33 win-loss along with poor .468 winning percentage.
