Philadelphia Phillies may set limit on Roy Halladay as he starts against Los Angeles Dodgers - MLB
In light of the fact that Roy Halladay is coming back after recovering from a strained right lat muscle, the Philadelphia Phillies’ team officials will observe caution with regard to permitting him the number of innings he can throw per game.
While generally Halladay is a kind of pitcher who throws complete games, the manager Charlie Manuel believes that if he can toss six innings comfortably, they will be happy.
As per the schedule, Halladay will start against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday. This will be his first game after getting rid of his injury.
What intrigues the fans most about his Tuesday’s outing is the fact that Halladay had struggled on the mound at the start of the season. Therefore, watching him making amends for his poor starts will be fascinating.
Even more interesting aspect is the fact that Halladay is known for making strong comebacks. If he fails on the mound in some games, one can expect that once he regains his momentum, he will wreak havoc to the opponents.
This, along with the fact that he boasts a tremendous record against the Dodgers, stirs the excitement of the fans that are waiting anxiously for his appearance on the mound.
Meanwhile, Manuel is confident that Halladay will bring victories for the club in the second half of the season. He clarifies that along with Cliff Lee, Halladay is going to become the greatest link in their triumphs from now onward.
“I project he’s going to win a lot of games for us the rest of the season,” Manuel said. “I think he and Cliff Lee will both do well.”
However, beneath the confidence that Manuel has shown in Halladay lies the assumption that Lee will improve drastically in the remaining games. Thus far, wins have been elusive for Lee, which is strange in light of the fact that he holds an excellent career
record.
Therefore, it cannot be a surprise if he actually proves successful in piling up wins for the club and thus living up to the statement by the manager.
Similarly, if Lee leads the charge from one end, it will be easier for Halladay to follow suit.
