Roy Halladay earned his first win of the series as Philadelphia Phillies beat Mets in the last game of the three game series at Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia on Thursday. Phillies were beaten in the first game by 7-1 but they came back strongly to beat
Mets 10-7 and 11-0 in the last two games of the series.
Halladay threw 113 pitches including 74 strikes to complete his seven scoreless innings. He struck out seven Mets’ hitters and gave away six hits and a walk. Danys Baez and David Herndon pitched eighth and ninth innings collectivel giving away only one hit
and a walk.
Mets’ Jonathon Niese started the proceedings quite comprehensively with two scoreless innings but went for plenty in his third and fourth inning. He pitched 77 pitches and was hit 8 times that cost Mets six runs. Pedro Beato replaced him with “two run”
two innings. Tim Byrdak followed Beato with expensive seventh inning. D.J Carrasco went for one run in Phillies' last inning.
Wilson Valdez, who is in place of injured Utley, impressed with the bat as he scored four runs and three RBI in his four times at bat. Left Fielder Raul Ibanez was the other prominent hitter with three run and two RBIs. Placido Polanco didn’t complete a
single run but managed to put four valuable RBIs to his name.

The first run for the Phillies came in third inning when Wilson Valdez scored on Shane Victorino’s single to the centre field.
Placido Polanco earned his first RBI of the game when he doubled to deep left center to guide Victorino score his first run of the game.
4th inning:
Ben Francisco scored on Carlos Ruiz’ single to the left field, while Raul Ibanez reached to the second base.
Ibanez scored on Valdez’ double to the deep right field, Ruiz reached to the third base.
Ruiz (at third) and Valdez (at second) reached base plate on Polanco’s two RBIs single to the right field.
5thinning:
Ryan Howard (at second) and Ibanez (at first) scored on Valdez’ double to the deep right center field.
Ibanez hit the only homer of the game to bring Howard home.
8thinning:
Valdez scored on Polanco’s single.
