Philadelphia Phillies’ pitcher Cliff Lee recovers from abdominal muscle pain – MLB News
The Philadelphia Phillies starting Pitcher Cliff Lee, who recently showed some symptoms of abdominal muscle pain, is going to recover soon within a few weeks.
According to several Phillies’ doctors, Lee has a history of abdominal issues, but not only he is recovering fast, but he is also feeling much better and actually pretty excited about Spring Training.
“Obviously, in the past, I’ve had an abdominal strain,” he said. “It’s a little sore. It’s similar to ab strains I’ve had in the past. In the past, in the early stages, I’ve tried to power through it. I’m trying to be smarter. It’s nothing really. It’s a minor deal. We’re playing it safe at this point. It’s felt a lot better yesterday and today.”
“It’s one of those fluke deals in my body,” Lee said. “It happens to be the weak link there. I’ve just got to make sure it stays a minor deal and take care of it.”
Currently with the team, Lee is optimistic for his return on the mound within a few days time. A ten-year veteran and highly successful player, Lee also has vast Major League experience playing for four different MLB franchises in the past. From Cleveland Indians to Seattle Mariners, Texas Rangers and Philadelphia Phillies, Lee has always played his best game wherever he played showing no loop holes whatsoever.
With all those years, Lee has also achieved great numbers and considered one of the best National League pitchers. Last year, playing for the Phillies, Lee was exceptional when he went with a 2.40 ERA along with 17-8 win loss record, 238 strike-outs and 1.03 WHIP. His overall career ERA of 3.65 along with 119- 69 win loss record, 1323 strike-outs and 1.22 WHIP, is also considered one of the best and the time is near as he will be the main player of the Phillies. His contract extension talks are already in process.
Talking about his late abdominal pain issues, his fast recovery is beneficial for the Phillies and for their results next season as well. The official Spring Training games are schedule within few days time while the Phillies’ doctors hope that Lee will be back on the field for their first training game.
