Philadelphia Phillies show intent on trading Hunter Pence - MLB Update
According to the reports, the Philadelphia Phillies have given clear signals to the clubs about trading their right fielder Hunter Pence. Their intent has yet to be reciprocated by a counter offer from any organisation.
The Phillies have clearly comprehended the reality that they cannot defend their crown of being a Division Championship winner for the last five years. Therefore, they are all set to become a seller during the trading period.
In this regard, they are in the trade market with an aim to send some of their players to other teams in exchange for prospects for future development of the club.
So far Pence has performed reasonably well in the season. With 17 home-runs and 58 RBIs under his belt, he can invite interest from various organisations. His ability to hammer home-runs and trigger activity on the bases can easily become a need for a team
which desperately needs such a player.
Along with Pence, one can expect that the Phillies will have other players in their plans for trading to other teams.
Earlier reports came which suggested that Philadelphia will be getting rid of Jimmy Rollins through trade after the team officials failed to witness what they expected from him in the season.
Meanwhile, Pence, while answering questions regarding the trade, expressed his resolve to keep trying to help the club as much as he can, regardless of where he is heading to. Currently, his entire attention is on playing and making sure the Phillies end
up the season with a respectable position on the table.
“That’s a difficult question,” Pence said. “I want to play here, period. I want to win, this year. I still believe in us, and that’s what I’m focused on. I’m not focused on, ‘What if something happens in the future?’ Because what if I die tomorrow? I’m not
guaranteed another breath. So I’m going to go out and play as hard as I can today with what I’ve got.”
Pence can prove a lethal force with regard to his offensive prowess for the opponents. Therefore, it will not be a surprise in case one gets to know that a number of clubs is interested in acquiring him.
