Philadelphia Phillies starter Roy Halladay out due to shoulder soreness – MLB News
The Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Roy Halladay is out due to shoulder soreness and still no reports have come of his potential return on the field.
Paying against the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday, the Phillies pitcher started to feel little soreness in his right shoulder and went back to locker room.
“I really don’t anticipate there being something in there that is shocking, I think if that were the case it would have been something I felt more often and probably be a lot more severe.” said Halladay after the game when reporters asked him questions regarding
his shoulder injury and the potential chances to his return to the field.
The most worried individual in the Phillies management was pitching coach Rich Dubee, who feared that Halladay’s prolong injury, could make things more difficult for the franchise who is not winning on consistent bases. However, though Dubee is not fit to
play, but the team doctors are taking care of Halladay with great concern and it is also possible that he will resume playing in the next couple of days.
“I know he's had a cranky shoulder. He hasn't looked right, and he didn't look right today. I knew he wasn't going to come out of the game. I basically said that was enough. Yeah, it's been an issue, It's been there. It's been lingering. Some days it's better
than others. Chicago [May 17] was better than others.” Dubee said.
Before getting injured, the 14 year veteran player, was playing with quite diligently and achieved consistent ERA of 3.98 along with 4-5 win loss record, 56 strikeouts and 1.15 WHIP.
On the other hand, his career ERA of 3.25 along with 192-97 win-loss record, 1990 strikeouts and 1.17 WHIP also makes him a good player.
A former Toronto Blue Jays, Halladay certainly is a key player of the Phillies roster. His recent injury is very crucial for his team at the moment.
The Phillies had just picked the pace when his injury occurred, but now in Halladay’s absence, their momentum will decrease and downhill ride could damage their potential chances of getting into post season.
