Philadelphia Squash Open 2011: Arshad Iqbal Burki beats Ryan Thompson

Pakistan’s top seed Arshad Iqbal Burki thrashed Ryan Thompson of England on the opening day of the 2011 Philadelphia Squash Open which was played at the Fairmount Racquet club in Pennsylvania.
Burki got off to a good start, initiating the match with a 11-7 win in the first set. However, the tables were turned on the Pakistani professional as Thompson bounced back to take the second set 11-6. The two went nip and tuck in the third set, however,
Arshad won it 12-10.
Similar to the first few sets, Ryan came back to take the fourth set 11-8. The arduous five-set match was however brought to a close by Burki as he took the deciding set 11-5.

The Pakistani professional will face Frenchman Julien Balbo in the next round of the tournament.
“I would try my beat to do good game against Julien Balbo of France,” said Burki after the match.

Arshad furthermore added that he believes playing against tough rivals means that one is learning good squash. He also said that Julien Balbo is one of the top seeds along with Shahun Le Rouz of England and Canada's Tyler Hamilton.

The US $ 5000 Philadelphia Squash Open is being held at the Racquet Club of Philadelphia. The facility comprises of a number of squash and tennis courts. Additionally, the club was established in the year 1889 at Walnut Street. It was built under the leadership
of George D. Widener and the clubhouse was designed by a renowned architect by the name of Horace Trumbauer.

In addition, England’s Lewis Walters, Rory Pennell, Shaun Le Roux and Chris Truswell, Canada’s Mazym Leclair, Thomas Brikman and Tyler Hamilton, Alex Grayson of New Zealand, Australia's Wade Johnstone and Josh Cardwell, Frenchman Julien Balbo and Lyall Paterson
of Scotland are participating in the 2011 Philadelphia Squash Open.
