Philadelphia Union skipper Sebastian Le Toux’s focused more on team results than personal tallies
Sebastien Le Toux, skipper of Major League Soccer unit http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Philadelphia-Union-c40231, was on a personal high last year when the U started their inaugural MLS campaign. Where the team resided at third to last on the points table, bearing 8-15-7 (8 won, 15 drawn and 7 defeats) statistics in 30 league matches, the player scored a goal every 100 minutes.
However, things are not the same this time around as Le Toux’s goal-account remains barren. The skipper, though, is not bothered with the goal-drought. “Last year I proved I can score goals for this team,” Le Toux said to the media. “It’s not a question. I can do good stuff on the field. But my biggest concern now, because I’m a leader, is to put this team on top.”
The team is second in the Eastern Conference just behind the reigning conference champions, New York Red Bulls, whom Le Toux’s side beat earlier this month.
While the captain is focused on the team’s overall performance and the league position, other members have started to take responsibility in the field. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roger-Torres-c31530 and Califf have opened their accounts and former MLS Most Valuable Player, Carlos Ruiz has added the remaining two goals that complete the goals-tally.
“Everyone talked about me last year because I was scoring goals,” Le Toux said. “It’s better to talk about the whole team than just me. Last year, it was just me and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-Califf-c10200 and Carlos score. It shows other people can score goals and it’s just not just me. It’s the whole team together.”
Le Toux is focused on team’s standings in the conference this year, which shows the player’s selfless nature. “People ask me about not scoring goals,” Le Toux said. “I just tell them about the standings.” He added.
The final results count and it has shown this season. The team, despite being in its second season ever, has already taken three points off last year’s leaders.
While the player is content with the situation at present, he has no plans of keeping the goal drought going in the league. Le Toux plans to open his account with a bang, like he did last season.
“It will happen,” Le Toux predicted with a smile. “And it will be a good time for me to score.”
