Philadelphia Union’s Carlos Ruiz tags http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Los-Angeles-Galaxy-c39818 underperformers – Major league Soccer
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Philadelphia-Union-c40231’s designated player, Carlos Ruiz, has spoken to the media ahead of his side’s Major League Soccer fixture against Los Angeles Galaxy. The player, who was a part of the Galaxy from 2002 to 2005 and then in 2008, believes that the California-based
team is underachieving at the moment.
According to Ruiz, the Galaxy have a host of stars like David Beckham, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Landon-Donovan-c21646, but they have only managed a measly 16 points from the opening 10 matches, just three more than Philadelphia Union. Ruiz’s team faced LA Galaxy in
April at the Home Depot Center, where they lost the first of the two matches of the season.
Despite being a group of football stars in the forward department, Los Galacticos could score only one goal, though, it was enough to bag the game. “We didn’t play good against them last time and they also didn’t play good,” Ruiz said. “They scored on a
free kick. We’re going to try to do better things this game.”
The lone goal of that game was scored by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chad-Barrett-c8743 as strikers in the line-up, the Galaxy have been struggling to poach goals since the start of the season in March.
Bruce Arena’s men have scored a disappointing 12 goals in 10 matches. For Ruiz, however, it is good news. The Guatemalan is hopeful of bagging the match against the Galaxy as his side is in better shape at the moment.
“From my point of view, LA Galaxy is in trouble right now,” said Ruiz. “They’ve played more games than any other team. They are going to come here and try to do something about it, but we are in a better position than them. We’re going to try to play smart
this game so we can be in first place in the East.”
However, the International player should also give the U’s performances a quick glance. In a total of seven matches, the team has scored only five goals – Ruiz has scored two of those. Even though the player is the team’s top goal scorer, it’s still not
a number the former MLS Most Valuable Player of the year should be proud of. Furthermore, with the likes of Sebastian Le Toux and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-Mwanga-c10216 also donning the U jerseys, the number of goals scored by the team is quite unacceptable.
The team returned to Philadelphia after a tour of north-western part of the country. New-to-MLS Portland Timbers humiliated the Union 1-0 at Jeld-Wen Field, marking the U’s second defeat of the season. However, Ruiz thinks that his team is in better position
than last week and the Galaxy would be given a surprise upon their arrival.
