Philander not bothered by criticism – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Vernon-Philander-c2753, the South African medium-fast bowler, is completely focussed on his game and expressed that he does not worry about criticism until or unless he is doing his job efficiently.
The 27-year-old cricketer, having done exceptionally well at the first-class level for a number of years, made his way to Test cricket in 2011, immediately cementing his place in the longer version of the sport.
After picking up eight wickets on his debut against Australia last year, Philander never looked back and has so far grabbed 63 victims in just 10 matches at an outstanding average of 15.96 runs per scalp, which includes seven 5-wicket hauls.
The wily bowler has done well against major international teams like Australia, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 but he has still been criticised for different reasons.
Some of the game’s pundits believe that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/M-Morkel-c73528 put pressure on the batsmen, which is benefitted by Philander, who is lucky to pick up so many wickets.
The cricketer from Bellville is not too fazed though and is trying to concentrate on doing well in the upcoming Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746. Being a true professional, Philander believes that his job is to help his country win more and more matches and
he is satisfied as long as he is doing the job.
"I don't really care how people receive me," he said. "For me, it's just to go out there and do my thing. As long as we take 20 wickets per Test, I'm happy. I just try and play my role in taking those 20 wickets As long as I am doing that, I don't give a
h**l what people have to say about me."
There is a school of thought which believes that batsmen all around the world are still not able to understand the strength of Philander, which in the seamer’s point of view is a massive advantage for him.
"The longer people keep on harping as to why I take wickets, the better for me. It's going to take them some time to work me out. If people can't work me out, all the better for me," the medium-fast bowler added.
