Philip Heintz seizes Men's 100m butterfly gold: Day four – 2011 German SC Nationals
Philip Heintz of SV Mannheim seized gold medal of Men's 100m butterfly on fourth day of the 2011 German Short Course Nationals on Sunday, November 27 in Wuppertal.
The 20-year-old Heintz proved his mettle for the gold spot of the butterfly discipline by clocking a time of 52.50 seconds. He was trailed by Marco Di Carli of SG Frankfurt, who remained 0.15 seconds behind him and hit the wall with the second fastest timing of 52.65 seconds.
The 26-year-old Di Carli out-touched his following swimmer, Tim Wallburger of SG Neukolln Berlin with a difference of 0.04 seconds. The 22-year-old Wallburger followed him on the podium for bronze medal by submitting a time of 52.69 seconds.
The fourth spot of the race was occupied by Philipp Wolf of SV Weiden, who remained 0.51 seconds slower than the bronze medallist and ended his swim in a time of 53.20 seconds.
He was followed by Jan Hesse of SV Wasserfreunde von 1898 Hannover, who was 0.35 seconds behind and completed his swim in a fifth fastest time of 53.55 seconds.
In the meantime, Britta Steffen of SG Neukolln Berlin dominated her way to the top of podium in the Women's 50m freestyle final. The 28-year-old Steffen remained considerably ahead of her following swimmers and occupied the title by reporting in a time of 24.16 seconds.
With her gold winning effort, she remained nearly half a second ahead of her team-member, Dorothea Brandt, who reached the podium for silver medal by producing a time of 24.67 seconds.
The 27-year-old Brandt was chased by Daniela Gotz of VfL Waiblingen, who remained just 0.48 seconds slower and stepped on the podium for bronze medal by clocking an effort of 25.15 seconds.
The 24-year-old Gotz remained 0.14 seconds ahead of her subsequent rival, Lisa Vitting of SG Essen, who settled on the finishing wall for fourth fastest spot with a timing of 25.29 seconds. 
She was chased by her team-mate, Paulina Schmiedel, who settled on the finishing wall with a timing of 25.64 seconds for fifth position.
Furthermore, the session came to an end after the laudable efforts of all participants in their respective events.
