Philip Humber feels upbeat despite failing to start against Cleveland Indians – MLB News
Chicago White Sox relief pitcher Philip Humber is feeling quite upbeat despite the fact that he could not pitch against the Cleveland Indians due to bad weather last week.
He was speaking to several reporters when he made comments about the opportunity he missed being not able to throw against the Indians, but many experts felt that those comments of Humber were quite positive.
As soon as Humber came to know about the postponed game, he said in the media showing much optimism and self assurance, “It’s not going to affect me, you aren’t going to stay around in this league very long if you are not able to adapt to a change of circumstances, That’s one of the things that last year prepared me for.
He added with more confidence, “I started the year in the bullpen and had a couple of times where I had six, seven, eight days in between starts. That would be good to use that experience for this time. It was hard to keep weight on in spring training because we’re on our feet a lot and you can’t eat as many times during the day.”
Humber is a good player and playing for the White Sox since 2011. This is his first year when he is going to play the entire season as team management earlier selected his spot after a long discussion with new manager Robin Ventura.
Humber, who has also played for the New York Mets along with Minnesota Twins and Kansas City Royals in the past, is a productive campaigner and can prove a good winning factor for the White Sox as well. He has been playing a consistent game for the past one month since the Major League Baseball Spring Training started. His performance in the recent trainings have been recognized by many experts and predicated that he will bring a solid consistency in the White Sox’s roster.
Team manager Robin Ventura and GM Kenny Williams have also showed their confidence on his game and that was the main reason behind when they agreed to give Humber a chance to show his talents in the 2012 MLB competition.
