Philip Neville eyes comeback, John Paintsil delighted after return
Everton FC’s captain Philip Neville says he is hopeful of making a full recovery in time to face the champions Chelsea FC in the English Premier League on Saturday.
Everton were subjected to a humiliating defeat by West Bromwich Albion when they lost 4-1 in front of their home fans. However, the captain believes that the players will be looking to put their dismal performance behind them and
bounce back with a positive result, when they travel to Stamford Bridge this weekend.
Neville, in an interview to the club’s official website said, “The injury is coming on. It has taken longer than I thought to clear up but I should be back for the weekend. I think everyone is disappointed but the good thing is
we are all taking responsibility for a poor performance. There is no finger pointing, no blaming each other and we all know it is not good enough. Under this manager, there is no other way to sort it out than through sheer hard work. The boys have been on
the training field again, working hard and we all want to put it right.”
The Toffees are without a win in 5 matches in the Premier League and flirting with relegation at 16th place. However, the Merseysiders will welcome the return of Neville and Belgian international Marouane Fellaini.
The midfielder was serving a 3-match ban following his sending off in the game against Bolton Wanderers on 10th November, and did not feature in Everton’s home loss to West Brom.
Meanwhile, Fulham FC’s defender John Paintsil has expressed his emotions after making a return to 1st team action against Birmingham City at the weekend. John felt elated after coming back from a long injury lay-off
that had kept him on the sidelines since September.
The Ghanaian international said, “The fans' reaction meant a lot to me and they gave me the confidence and motivation to do well. It was a special moment for me, because it had been a while since I had played. It has been difficult,
that I cannot deny. I'm no different to any other professional, you always want to be playing in games and helping your team out on the pitch. But I'm not the type of player to ever complain about the situation - I just get my head down and make sure that
I am ready when needed.”
The match against the Blues ended in a 1-1 draw, which leaves Fulham on 17th position in the Premier League table.
