Philip Pawlowski beats Oon nelson in qualifying round of Swedish International Stockholm 2012
Denmark’s emerging player Philip Pawlowski has proved that he possesses what it takes to become a top class shuttler as he has defeated Australia’s Oon Nelson in Men’s Singles qualifying round of the Swedish International Stockholm 2012, in Sweden, on Thursday, January 19.
Pawlowski delivered phenomenal performance as he played striking badminton against Nelson and emerged as the winner in a thrilling fight. The Danish showed his class and ended this qualifying-round encounter in three sets by working hard for 46 minutes in the court.
The Danish shuttler did not face strong opposition in the opening set of the match and bagged it easily. However, his rival played terrific game in the second set and levelled the score by taking it with a good difference.
In the deciding game of this thrilling showdown, Pawlowski managed to play positive game and won the set with a decent score.
The first game of this Men’s Singles fight was interesting when both players reached at 5-5 when Pawlowski started to take lead. He played flawless badminton from rear-court area and also dominated the game at net.
The Danish player was miles ahead of Nelson in whole set as he played aggressive and positive badminton. He ended the set with a wonderful score of 21-13.
In the second game, both shuttlers cheered the crowd with their superb play as they remained toe-to-toe until the score reached at 11-11.
At this stage, Nelson took over the control and pushed Pawlowski on back foot. The Danish could not impress the crowd in this game and lost it with a margin of 15-21.
In the decider, Pawlowski dominated the game in opening half but his rival also played at the same level and levelled the score by reaching 9-9.
Until the break, Pawlowski was in a better position as he was leading the game with an 11-9 margin.
After the 60-second break, Pawlowski accelerated his speed and played parallel badminton from all areas of the court. He spared no chance for his rival to find his momentum and finished the third set with a 21-16 score on the board.
This qualifying-round contest ended with a margin of 21-13, 15-21 and 21-16.
