Philip Vickery bid farewell to rugby due to fatal neck injuries
The English ace Rugby player Philip John Vickery was compelled to bow out from the world of rugby, as he endured severe neck injury once again.
The English veteran golfer had been suffering from the neck injury problems and had undergone surgeries for many times. According to very recent news report the 34-year-old has hit a neck injury once again but this time he was compelled to retire from playing
rugby.
His capacity cannot be questioned but it seems that his neck issue is proving to be a bit too much to handle for him. The current Wasps player has played with other big rugby leagues like Lions and has served the English rugby team as skipper.
The current condition of his neck is reported as very critical, since he has gone through serious surgeries for four times before this as well. So in order to protect himself from further physical damage he opted to retire from the sport. His retirement,
no doubt, is a source of frustration and devastation for the Wasps prop. Although rugby is the only love of the retired players life but it seems like he is very well aware of the risks he can face by playing more.
In a very recent interview John Vickery expressed his thoughts and feelings about the matter and said that rugby is his only love and his career has been amazing. He added and said that he will remember each and every moment of his playing career.
When Vickery was asked about his retirement he said that he wanted to play more for his team and fans. But since his medical problem was quite serious, so he had to rely on doctor’s suggestions, making him bow before the decision of retiring.
Vickery efforts for the game cannot be ignored. He has done much for the game of rugby and played as a skipper for the national English rugby team. The 34-year-old is still considered as a vital asset for the world of rugby.
While describing his feelings after getting retired from rugby, the veteran Englishman said that his love and enthusiasm for the game is still there and he wants to play more for Wasps. He added that his sudden retirement was very discouraging for him as
he was feeling incomplete.
Philip Vickery told the media in a state of despair that his retirement is not because he lost his desire for the game but it was because of his physical fitness and that is why he couldn’t do anything but to stay away from the sport.
Vickery told the media that the director and vendor of Wasps were discussing to extend his career before the game of 25th September but after the injury hit him and he relied over the doctor’s suggestions. The English veteran continued saying that the current
condition for him was like accepting defeat without playing hard.
The current England rugby team boss Martin Johnson paid tribute to Vickery during his interview and said that Phillip was a great asset for rugby and he was always passionate about his game which is the best thing in any player.
Phillip Vickery is no doubt one of the best rugby players in the world. He has played in seventy three rugby matches for his team which is a vivid proof of his brilliance. His importance in the team will be missed but this is probably the right time for
the veteran prop to retire because when it comes to game, a sound body is of pivotal importance.
