Philipp Kohlschreiber battles past Benoit Paire in the second round – Moselle Open 2012
World number 18, Philipp Kohlschreiber defeated the local challenger, Benoit Paire and successful nudged forward to the next round of the Moselle Open 2012, France. The duo encountered each other for the second
time and the German professional jolted down his 6-2, 1-6, 6-1 win in a total of one hour and 27 minutes.
The second seeded German contender broke his rival’s serve in the third game and marked his lead. He confidently stepped forward and clinched all the games without facing any break of serve. Towards the end,
he busted Paire’s serve in second last game and closed the set with a 6-2 score line.
In the second set, the 23-year-old Frenchman broke Kohlschreiber’s serve grabbed the lead by securing the initial three games. The German seemed powerless in front of his rival and was unable to level the scores
down. The winning arrangement upturned and Paire stamped his 6-1 lead.
In the deciding set, the 28-year-old German senior struggled with his unbreakable passion to come back to his former spot. He journeyed to the end without facing any trouble and ruined the right-hander Paire’s
serve twice i.e. in the fourth and the sixth game. He marked a close to the set with his 6-1 win.
Although Paire manifested a 57 percent first serve precision, he secured 11 of 12 first and six of nine second delivery points. The higher-ranked, Kohlschreiber stamped away 65 percent initial serve precision,
with nine of 17 points. The Frenchman capitalized two of four break points whereas Kohlschreiber pocketed none.
Ranked 51st in the ATP World Tour Rankings, French challenger lagged behind because he had very low initial serve accuracy of 36 percent. He had six of eight first and five of 14 second delivery score.
On the other hand, Kohlschreiber had a relatively better initial serve precision of 70 percent, snatching 14 of 19 first and four of eight second serve points.
Previously, the German challenger marked his 6-7(4), 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, 7-6(4) win over Paire in the second round of the US Open 2012. In the next round, he will battle against the seventh seeded local, Gael Monfils.
