Philipp Kohlschreiber expects Bayern Munich to lift the Champions Trophy – Tennis News
World number 24, Philipp Kohlschreiber, is a huge fan of football and his favourite team, Bayern Munich, is in the Champions League final taking on the likes of English giants, Chelsea. He is from Germany so naturally the choice is obvious for him but considering
that he is already a big fan of Bavarian giants who crawled their way into the final of the Europe’s biggest tournament.
Munich defeated the Spanish giants, Real Madrid, who was the hot favourite club to win the Champions trophy this year. Similarly, Chelsea also defeated the reigning European Champions, Barcelona, in an epic two-legged contest.
Kohlschreiber talked to the media representatives of goal.com and exposed her love for the game of soccer and his favourite team. He stated, “The Champions League is something very special. However, the British teams are traditionally very strong. Chelsea
has been strengthened by the money of Roman Abramovich and has had the opportunity to purchase fantastic individual players. I think that we [Bayern] must not make the mistake of underestimating the depth of the Chelsea squad.”
So, a tennis player has already placed an ultimatum on the potential result of the Champions league final but he knows that it will never be an easy task. Another advantage for the German giants is that they will have the home support behind them as the
final is played at their home soil in Munich; it’s plays a vital part in deciding the winners but considering that Chelsea were able to squash the most versatile team in the world, Barcelona, at their home soil with 10-men; it won’t be a piece of cake for
Munich.
Few suspended players from both sides will make a difference especially to the team in Blue, who will be without their captain, John Terry, and their centre back, Branislov Ivanovic. Goal scorer from the semi-final conquest, Ramirez, is also suspended; so,
it will be difficult for the visitors to battle so many factors going against them.
Kohlschreiber who witnessed a first round exit in the Internazionali BNL d'Italia, contested in Rome, Italy, at the hands of the American number one, John Isner, will be ecstatic to see his favourite team lifting the trophy on Saturday night. The sorrows
of leaving Rome earlier than expected will be washed out with the triumph of Munich and this is all he needs to comeback as a strong player in the year’s second Grand Slam tournament, the Roland Garros French Open.
