The skipper admitted that his side is still not at its very best and wants the team to step up in the future games to remain at the top of the table.
Bayern Munich are still at the top of Bundesliga standings with 40 points from the 19 games played and face stiff competition from the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Schalke. The team won its recent fixture against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfL-Wolfsburg-c40881
with a 2-0 score line courtesy goals from Mario Gomez and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arjen-Robben-c6521.
Lahm claimed that Bayern still lack the fire power and class with which the club started the season and admitted that there is still room for improvement. The defender feels that the team is still a touch below its high standards
and is still in a recovery process after the defeat to Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga.
The German international added that the league title is still Bayern Munich’s to lose at the end of the season. He added that the team cannot afford any more setbacks in the remaining course of the season to make sure they lift
the title.
“If we'd taken an early lead, it would have been a very comfortable afternoon, but in the event it was a bit laboured at times. Obviously, we're capable of better football than that, but it'll take a little time before we’re back
in our normal rhythm. When you're right at the top, you only look at yourselves. It's all in our own hands,” Lahm was quoted as saying in an interview to Bayern Munich’s official website.
On the other hand, Franck Ribery, who was arguably Bayern Munich’s best player against Wolfsburg, stated that it was a difficult week for the club as they have to make a strong comeback after the defeat to Monchengladbach to maintain
their lead at the top.
“I'm back, which is important for me and the team. It's been a long week with lots of pressure and lots of stress,” he concluded.
The Bavarian giants will next face Hamburg in the league at Imtech Arena on Saturday, February 4. The team now has a full squad as Ribery has also returned from injury.
