The Bayern Munich skipper is delighted with his team’s winning return after the midweek disappointment to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Basel-c39079 in the UEFA Champions League.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Philipp-Lahm-c29929 expressed his pleasure at Bayern Munich’s hard fought win over in-form Schalke at the weekend. The two sides locked heads on Sunday, February 26, at the Allianz Arena with Bayern winning by a 2-0 margin. French winger,
Franck Ribery, scored both goals for the Bavarian giants.
The French international opened the scoring in the 36th minute after a delightful pass from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luiz-Gustavo-c22844 and extended the lead on the 55th minute mark with a simple finish from close range.
Lahm opined that Bayern were outstanding on the night and desperately needed this win after their shocking midweek result against FC Basel in the UEFA Champions League. However, the defender admitted that the Reds should have gone
into the lead early after creating enough chances inside the half hour mark.
While talking during the pre-match press conference, the 28-year-old further added:
"I think we put our opponents under a lot of pressure today, more than recently. We looked a lot better going forward too, our movement was a lot better than it has been, and you can see that from the chances we created."
On the other hand, Ribery insisted that Bayern needed the win and the victory would definitely give the team a lot of confidence. The winger also expressed his satisfaction on scoring a brace and wants to carry the same form in
the upcoming league, Champions League and the German Cup games.
"I was really up for it today, I really wanted the win. I guess that's normal given the situation the team had found itself in. Everyone is glad to have got this win as we look to turn things around. It's good for the team's confidence
to have got the three points," Ribery concluded.
As a result of this win, Bayern have gone second in the league standings with 48 points, four short of current leaders, Borussia Dortmund. The Reds will next be in action against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday, March 3, at the BayArena.
