http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ukraine-c3032, but still regarded
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 as the favourites to lift the crown.
The German international expressed his delight on the national side’s impressive run in the qualifying stages of Euro 2012; Joachim Low’s men won all the ten qualifying games to end with a perfect record. He added that the German
side has transformed incredibly since losing to Spain in the semi-finals of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, and assured that the players will fight until the very end for a top place finish in Poland and Ukraine.
While talking to sports website, Bild.com, the full-back further mentioned:
"We have continued to develop with both teams. Whether it's enough [for Euro 2012 and the Champions League], we'll see. The truth is that no player would be too happy with second place. We have the quality to reach the final, but
we are not the top favourites.”
When asked about his club’s number one status, Lahm added that both Bayern Munich and Germany are closing on the respective titles.
He insisted that the Munich giants want to surpass teams such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 and Real Madrid whereas Germany are targeting La Roja, adding further that the difference is diminishing. Further commenting about the favourites for the
upcoming Euro competition, the 28-year-old opined:
"Spain, the world and European champions. However, in the 2010 World Cup semi-final we were closer to them than in the Euro 2008 final. It's the same with Bayern against Barcelona and Real, who are top favourites in the Champions
League."
Lahm will lead his country into the European championships which are scheduled to start in June this year. Germany have been placed in Group B, alongside http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753. The DFB Eleven will begin their campaign
with the game against Portugal on June 9.
On the other hand, Bayern are currently atop the league table with 37 points, three clear of Borussia Dortmund and Schalke. They will restart their trophy quest on Friday, January 20, with the game against Borussia Monchengladbach.
