Philippe Mexes and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Taye-Taiwo-c34728 A.C Milan players, Massimiliano Allegri confirms – Serie A news
A.C Milan manager, Massimiliano Allegri, has revealed that the Rossoneri have signed defenders Philippe, Mexes and Taye Taiwo, from A.S http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 and Olympique Marseille respectively.
The duo has been signed as replacement for some of the ageing defenders, who might hang up their boots in a couple of seasons. Milan were confirmed as the 2010/11 Serie A Champions after a goalless draw against A.S Roma at the weekend. After winning the
Scudetto, Allegri stated that he would definitely strengthen his squad for the next season.
Mexes had already stated his intentions of leaving Roma two months back and a move to Milan was always his preferred choice.
Talking to the reporters Allegri said, "We have already signed Mexes and Taiwo. For the defence we have bought those two players and I think we are fine like this. We will see later for the midfield and attack, but for today we have to think about the TIM
Cup [Coppa Italia]."
The former Cagliari midfielder added that he will strengthen other positions in the near future too and has definitely short-listed a few players, who he wishes to sign in the upcoming transfer window.
Milan have been heavily linked with a move for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Santos-c40446 playmaker, Ganso, while rumours of Rossoneri legend Kaka returning are always ripe.
“They are both great players. For Kaka his career speaks for itself. Ganso is still young and has great quality, but if he comes to Europe he will have to show a lot more.” Added Allegri
However, the Italian insists that he will discuss the options with the president and work out on possible options available in the transfer budget he gets.
Left-back has been a problem area for Milan and with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marek-Jankulovski-c23848 reaching the end of his career, Taiwo would definitely fit in the role for many years to come. However, Mexes will add experience to the Milan side as he knows the Italian conditions
better than many defenders.
Milan are on course to winning a domestic double, as they will face Palermo in the second-leg of the Coppa Italia on Tuesday, May 10, 2011.
