Philippe Mexes ready to take on A.S Roma and expecting a harsh treatment from the fans: Serie A news
A.C Milan defender, Philippe Mexes, is prepared to face the boo-boys when the Rossoneri take on his former employers, A.S Roma, in a Serie A encounter at the Stadio Olimpico Rome on Saturday, October 29, 2011.
Mexes left the Giallorossi on a free transfer to join Milan in the summer transfer window. The Frenchman had spent almost seven years at the Stadio Olimpico Rome but some on and off the field issues prompted him to leave the Capital
club.
Mexes has admitted that he is ready to face the jeers from his former fans but it will not affect his performances on the pitch. The former Auxerre star admitted that he underwent a harsh treatment from the Roma fans when he joined
Milan but this does not change his feelings for them.
The 29-year-old is hoping to change the boos into applauds after the game because he has strong affiliation with the Giallorossi supporters.
Mexes added, “I was whistled even when I wore their colours, but I’m not bitter. That’s just one of the passionate ways to live football. Let’s say that I expect to be jeered, but I do hope that they are then transformed into applause.”
The French international confirmed that he did not leave http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 in a harsh manner and he felt that he was longer wanted at the club. Mexes admitted that the change in management was one of the main reasons for him to leave the club.
“I don’t consider my Roma exit as a divorce. I spent seven wonderful years there. At a certain point the club’s management changed and my renewal was no longer a topic for discussion.”
The centre-back has not yet fully recovered from the knee injury suffered during the latter stages of the 2010/11 season and believes that he needs a couple of more weeks to return to full fitness.
“I still need a bit more training to return to my best. I think that I’ll be ready for 90 minutes in about two or three weeks.”
Mexes made 245 appearances in his seven year stay at the Stadio Olimpico Rome and scored 14 goals too.
