AS Roma defender Philippe Mexes has rejected a chance to play in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 in order to play for AC Milan in the 2011-12 season.
According to reports, the Frenchman is ready to refuse advances from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 and has now set his sights on making a move to the Serie A giants.
Recently, he was linked with a move to Milan after his current contract at Roma expired but Arsenal and Liverpool were also monitoring his contract situation for quite some time and wanted to land the defender. However, the Frenchman has expressed his desire
to stay in Italy for the remainder of his career and is more eager to join AC Milan instead of going to England.
According to conflicting reports in Italy, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 have been in talks with the 28-year-old for a contract extension but it is becoming more and more evident that he is poised to sign a contract with the Rossoneri.
In 2010, Mexes indicated that he wanted to extend his stay at Roma, but the Roma officials did not start any negotiations with him. With so much uncertainty surrounding the club following the resignation of Claudio Ranieri, it seems that Mexes may opt to
make a move for San Siro.
It has been reported that Milan are offering the Frenchman a 4-year deal that will give him 4.5 million Euros a year, something that the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international wants as he has also been rumoured to be looking to land a major contract for the remaining prime
years of his career.
Liverpool are reported to be in the market for the highly rated defender as they look to strengthen their side for the next season. On the other hand, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger’s defensive problems have been highlighted a lot in the ongoing 2010-11 season
and he is looking to lure the Frenchman to London.
Currently, Roma are struggling to qualify for the UEFA Champions League for the next season and that might be another reason why Mexes is itching for a move to Milan, who are almost guaranteed a Champions League spot in the 2011-12 season.
