Philippine Airline way more expensive than Cebu Pacific why??

Question

Lately, I have been searching for plane tickets to buy from Manila to Bacolod. I understand that there's two airlines that I could use-Philippines Airline and Cebu Pacific. I went to these airline's websites and compared prices. What shocks me is when I saw Philippine Airlines price is WAY more expensive than Cebu Pacific.

Can anybody explain this to me? Is there a catch and a tremendous reason why Cebu Pacific is half the price of Philippine Airline? We are talking about three thousand Pesos for Cebu Pacific and six thousand for PA! What the heck? Does Philippine Airline offer something that the othert airline doesn't for their price to be a lot higher?

If anyone can help explain this, I'd appreacite it. Furthermore, try going to both websites and check for fare. You'll know what I am talking about. I need to buy tickets for me and my son we go back and I really want to save money while there.

This is an easy question.  

Cebu Pacific is a 100% privately owned airline, they can absolute control over every aspect of their business and can adjust faster to make conditions.  PAL, however, has the government sitting in thier board, thus, politics often get in the way.  For example, with rising gs prices, most airlines are suffering.  If PAL wanted to cut routes or staffing to make ends meet, the politicians will intervene to save jobs wherever possible to score points w/the masses.

It is because Philippine Airlines is always on time when it comes to departure time unlike with Cebu Pacific always delayed, for an hour or more.

PAL is full cost carrier

CP is low cost carrier

Whenever you go " usually " Low cost carrier is cheaper than Full Service Carrier.

Ex : Low Cost Carrier : Value Air ( at spore ), Air Asia ( M'sia ), Tiger ( Thai ) etc

Full Cost Carrier : SQ, Thai Airways, Malaysia Airways, etc

Low Cost Carrier less service than Full Service Carrier either on the ground or air.

fare of cebu pacific is cheaper than philippine airlines because:

-  albeit pal is the country's flag carrier, cp is expanding and promoting its business.  mr. gokongwei promised to the filipino people that flying should be affordable and not luxurious, just like what he did to his other products i.e. affordable with high quality.

-  pal has several fleets compared to cp which means a lot of open seats or schedules to fly you at your convenience which ofcourse would equate to extra charges.  

-  pal operation is bureaucratic  which means high overhead costs.   cp popularized the use of web-based personal ticketing among filipinos. It would seem that the one function that used to be exclusive to travel agencies, issuing tickets to passengers, is now becoming a thing of the past.

peanuts & uniform

pal serves peanuts and stuff like mini chips  for domestic      flights

cp does not

pal serves meals for international flights

cp sells small cup noodles for 50php and 100php for large,

              chips for 50php, etc

compare the uniform: attendants of pal look more presentable

                                                             cp quite so so

also the aircraft of pal is quite roomy and spacious unlike cp

the seat covers are nice, too,  hehe

Because Cebu Pacific is primarily a low-cost carrier... they don't have the frills such as free food... you have to buy food from them if you're hungry, and they're at sky-high prices, BTW (both literally and figuratively)... plus their planes, I think, are smaller (but they are newer, I heard they have the youngest fleet of planes)

Maybe Cebu Pacific is still in the process of trying to get a fair share of the market, that's why they lower their prices.

I doubt that PAL would have a clear explanation why their prices are sky rocketing than Cebu Pacific. But I think that the most obvious reason is that, Cebu Pacific is still in the process of promoting their business.

Their motto is "It's time everyone flies", why do you think people rarely travel by air? They would need to stick with that principle until they become established like Philippine Airlines.
