Philips CD recorder?

my philips cd audio recorder stoped recording half way through a track,now it displays disk error on any disk i put in,anyone had the same problem with theres and what it cost to repair,model is CDR802

I had a similar problem with my Philips CD recorder when trying to copy a track from a CD that turned out to have some sort of copy protection software built in (Sony label I think).  The fault cleared when I switched off and completely disconnected from the mains for a few minutes but re-appeared if I ever tried to copy from the same CD.

    Most CDs I buy have at most 2 or 3 tracks worth listening to so I copy them onto a compilation CD so I can avoid the 'filler' tracks.  Having paid good money for the CD, I am not best pleased when the manufacturer includes software that interferes with my ability to enjoy the tracks I want.  I think they've stopped doing it now.

    That may not be your problem, but it might be worth a try.


  2. Before you start spending money on repairs, try cleaning the lens - it worked on my DVD recorder. You can take the machine apart and clean the lens gently with a cotton bud and isopropyl alcohol, or if you're not confident about doing that, buy a lens cleaning disc - they're fairly cheap.
