Philips TV, Model # 50PL9126D/37

Question

We turn the TV on the blue power light on the front turns on, everything is fine for about 15 seconds then the screen goes black and 2 red lights (the lamp and temperature lights) come on the power button. The sound is fine but there is no picture. My husband opened up the TV and found that the lamp comes on, gets brighter and then just shuts down. I need to know what exactly the problem is as I wouldn't think it to be the lamp alone as it comes on and gets bright. I am just praying it is not the lamp engine because then we are talking $900 to fix.
