Price turned professional in the year 1989 and made it into the European Tour field in 1991 through the Qualifying School.
He carded the best year of his career in 2000 when he soared to eighth place on the European Tour Order of Merit.
His highest finish in a major championship came in 2003, where he finished for a joint 10th in the Open Championship.
Spaniard Jose Manuel Lara pulled in a brilliant seven-under, 65 on the second day to throw himself in contention for the latest European Tour event.
Carding no fewer than eight birdies in all, Lara is now poised at an outright second, trailing Price by one stroke.
Lara said, "What a day! I had a sleep in the physio bus with about five other players, two breakfasts and two lunches before I even hit one shot.
"But when we did get out there the conditions totally changed and it was only windy for about two of the holes we played.
"After that it was calm and I managed to play well and put a very good score together".
Lara also started from back nine, opening his round with a birdie on the 10th. He carded another at the 12th and like Price, pulled a set of three birdies on 15th, 16th and 17th.
He made the turn for the front and fell for the only bogey of the day at the par-three 2nd. The Spaniard shot back in defensive mode and pulled another three birdies before calling it a day.
Lara added, “I am feeling confident at the moment and would love to win here, especially on this golf course because it is very special”.
Meanwhile Swede Joel Sjoholm also carded a stunning six-under 66 on the second day to finish for a joint third alongside South African James Kingston.
The Chilean born Sjoholm is still looking for his first professional victory and also his maiden title on the European Tour.
The Georgia State University graduate joined the European Tour this year with six top-five finishes on the Challenge Tour.
